Seersucker Bike Ride

Hello Good Folks!

If this weekend is any indication of my summer, then ThatKellieGirl is going to have a blast! 🙂  On Saturday, I took to the streets with my seersucker suit and bike to attend the 2012 Seersucker Bike Ride and Social.  The annual event is Jazz Age inspired,  fashionable bicycle ride through DC.  The year, the ride began at Fort Reno Park and ended at the beautiful Hillwood Estate, Museum and Garden.  The day was gorgeous as well as the beautiful upper northwest neigborhoods we rode through on our way to Hillwood.

The founders and coordinators of the event, Eric Channing Brewer of  Dandies & Quaintrelles and Holly Bass of Holly Bass Performance Projects put on a well-organized event.  The bike route was well-planned, and the bike marshalls did a great job of keeping everyone safe and on track.  ThatKellieGirl is truly a fan of the Seersucker Bike Ride and Social as well as their fall event, the Tweed Ride.

Once arriving at Hillwood, bikers were treated to an afternoon of picnicking, croquet, badminton, and live jazz performed by Dandy Wellington and his band. The Mansion and gardens at Hillwood also were open for strolling.  ThatKellieGirl wasn’t able to stay for the social, but I did capture some photos of the stylish scene before the bike ride.   So check here  and here for more pictures. Enjoy! 🙂

  1. These pictures are great! Still bummed I missed it, but honestly I would have needed to go shopping before hitting this event Lol. You all are sharp! I’ll be ready next year. 🙂

    • We had a great time. You would have loved it. However, you don’t have to wait until next year. The Tweed Ride is this fall, usually in October. Hope you can join us!
