Hello Good People!
Last night the Boo and I went to the “Still Something Big Tour” at the Lincoln Theater. We had great seats. In fact we had box seats, so we had a great view. I am a believer in purchasing good seats for a concert, but I digress…
The concert came right on time for me with so much instability around…looming government shutdown, high gas prices and international uprisings. However, each artist sang and proclaimed the good news that God is bigger and greater.
Then as the white curtain fell to usher in the main act, you heard various voices speaking the word Heaven. And as the curtain raised, BeBe & CeCe Winans and Mary Mary stepped forth. The dynamic duos opened the concert with a medley of their most popular songs. Each group took turns coming on and off the stage to sing their songs. This kept the performance very energetic and fast paced. After intermission, each group then performed a short set.
The singing and the band were IMPECCABLE. The background singers could have held court all by themselves! However, this was about Mary Mary, and they are some powerhouses. In my book, second to the Clark Sisters, Mary Mary are the best singers out there. They didn’t miss a note or a beat. They kept it fun and high-energy, but always keeping the message upfront that God is their all.
And BeBe & CeCe Winans were such a treat. CeCe models such grace and class for every woman. And BeBe is just smooth and fun. They really balance each other. Their performance made me realize the great body of work they have produced over the years. If you get a chance, go see BeBe & CeCe Winans. This is supposedly their farewell performance.
At the end of the concert, BeBe Winans announced that Cicely Tyson was in the house. I couldn’t get any pics though. Our box was above her box. 😦
I am still basking in the Spirit from the concert. It was truly a blessing to me.
Check out my pics from the “Still Something Big Tour” with Mary Mary and BeBe & CeCe Winans. I am getting good with my camera y’all! 🙂
