Hey Family,
One thing that I love to do is TRAVEL especially outside of the States. I have a couple of stamps in my passport, but I plan to change that soon. Traveling has truly opened my mind to the world. I felt limitless when I finally got my passport. I felt like the whole world just opened up to me. I truly became a global citizen. Unfortunately, many people of color, especially students, are not taking advantage of traveling abroad. We aren’t even traveling within the US. Oprah just did a show to encourage more black folks to visit national parks.
This is why ThatKellieGirl is partnering with some fabulous organizations, The DC Hive , Public Allies, Shea Yeleen and River East Emerging Leaders, to make people aware of travel abroad opportunities through the Peace Corps. This event also is in honor of the Peace Corps’ 50th Anniversary. Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) want to get the word out about the benefits of volunteering with the Peace Corps. And a special shout out to Maceo Thomas for having the vision to coordinate this event.
So join us this Thursday (3/10) to learn about how you could be volunteering in Senegal or Italy or Haiti next year. The World is Yours!
Peace and Blessings! 🙂
