Freedom Friday: The Christmas Eve Edition

Hello Good People!

I finally caught it.  I caught the Christmas spirit.  I love being with my family during Christmas. For me, it’s an opportunity to get it right with family before I enter the new year.  I am looking forward to laughing, loving, giving and watching “The Christmas Story” with them. 🙂  As I write, everyone will soon converge upon my sister’s home for our Christmas celebration.

I know each Friday, I usually let you know what wonderful events and shows are happening for the weekend.  However, before you do what you do, I encourage each of you to really take this Saturday and Sunday to spend time with your family or your support system.  It is so easy for each of us to get caught up in daily distractions.  However, when we have opportunities to relax, relate and release make sure to include your family some times.  I had a wonderful morning bonding and talking with my older sister.  We regularly talk, but there is nothing like a good ole’ heart to heart.  When we come with a spirit of love and understanding beautiful, transformative and miraculous things can happen.  As I was taught and read, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20).  That’s powerful people.  And God is right there in the middle of it all.  🙂

I hope each of you enjoy the rest of the year.  Peace and Blessings!

SOuL BaBY” was established over a decade ago by a group of native Washingtonians as a conduit to connect with friend and associates who had migrated from the Metropolitan Area and were returning home for the holidays. As lives progressed and social networks grew it became obvious that positive people traveled in the same circles. What had once just been a chance to catch up with old friends evolved into an opportunity to enjoy the many cross sections of ones life. Playing a close second fiddle to the people has always been the music. “SOuL BaBY” has always been a place to hear good music and this year will be no different. DJ Jahsonic will provide the musical backdrop for the evening, Vintage Hip-Hop, Classic Soul, Break Beats, & Reggae. Soul Baby is free! Just bring yourself and that holiday vibe. Spread the word. See you there!

You are really in for a treat!  Black Nativity is the joyous account of an historic event that occurred 2,000 years ago. It’s a celebration that tells the original story of the Nativity in scripture, verse, music and dance. Based on the Gospel of St. Luke, combined with the poetry of Langston Hughes, this song-play touches a special chord in the hearts of all.
