For today’s MidWeek Mixx, check out British jazz artist Zara McFarlane. She is a talented vocalist, who has made several impressive appearances with musicians who do no choose their collaborators without careful consideration –Denys Baptiste, Orphy Robinson, Soweto Kinch and Jazz Jamaica All Stars to name a few. McFarlane also received great reviews for her a duet rendition of Stevie Wonder’s My Cherie Amour on the 2006 Motor City Roots album. All of these experiences led to her self-produced EP, “Until Tomorrow” in 2010. The 6 track EP was a mix of original compositions such as Captured and jazz standards such as On Green Dolphin Street. The EP evolved into a full-length album, Until Tomorrow, and it marked Zara McFarlane’s debut for Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings.
Check out her song “Feed the Spirit” off of the “Until Tomorrow” album. Enjoy!
