Georgia Anne Muldrow will be in the house tonight along with Declaime (aka Dudley Perkins), and I can’t wait. To me, she is the quintessential 70s soulchild.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Georgia hails from a family of creative musicians, whose roots run deep in the ’60s and ’70s progressive jazz scene. Her father invented instruments for Eddie Harris, and her mother performed with Pharoah Sanders. Still in her teens she relocated to New York where she lived briefly and recorded seven songs for her 2005 self-released EP, “Worthnothings”.
After working with the Platinum Pied Pipers on their debut “Triple P,” she caught the eyes of many independent artists. She signed with Stones Throw Records to re-issue her “Worthnothings” EP and release her full length debut, “Olesi: Fragments Of An Earth”. Since then she has collaborated with Erykah Badu, Sa-Ra, Mos Def, and most frequently with Declaime.
Most people love her song “Runaway,’ and the video is great!
Also, check out her blog.
