Seu Jorge is a true renaissance man. He is musician, singer, songwriter, actor and now fashion designer. Ever since Jorge’s role as “Knockout Ned” in City of God (one of my fav movies), ThatKellieGirl has been a fan. However, I didn’t become a fan of his music until I heard him singing in the movie The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

In 2011, Reel People Music released the soulful album ‘Reel People Present Golden Lady’. The title track, a rework of Stevie Wonder’s classic “Golden Lady” featuring the beautiful vocals of Tony Momrelle, went viral on the web.
Just when you think it can’t get any better, Reel People Music releases a video for the track. Set in Paris, Tony woos his “Golden Lady”. Enjoy!
It is official. DJ Spinna is my favorite DJ. Every time I witness a DJ Spinna set, I am never disappointed. He seems to place and transition songs effortlessly. DJ Spinna takes you from dancing, to shouting to call and response. So when I heard his remix of Mary Mary’s Walking”, he just solidified his #1 position even more. If you can remix a gospel song, then you have some skills. And DJ Spinna knocked it out the box with this one. Also, check out the pictures from Wonder-FULL, DC.
Hello Beautiful People!
I am so ready for the long Columbus Day weekend. And we are supposed to get some good weather. I will take it! Check out some awesome events, and I will see you on the other side. Peace, ThatKellieGirl!
Happy Monday People!
I hope you had a great weekend, and you are ready for a better week. The dip in temperature sort of took me by surprise, but that’s ok. The heat is activated and the crock pot is out. I am ready!
I also am ready for Wonder-Full taking place this Saturday (10/8) at LIV. DJ Spinna plays everything Stevie Wonder. If he wrote it, sang it or somebody else sang it, it will be played. This is one of my favorite events. I have only attended the event in NYC, so I am quite excited that Wonder-Full will be in DC. In honor of Mr. Wonder and the Wonder-Full event, check out one (of many) of my fav Stevie Wonder songs. Peace.
Musical side note: This song was actually the inspiration to the Clark Sister’s “You Brought the Sunshine“. Enjoy!

Hello Good People!
I hope you all enjoyed the weekend, and you are ready for the week.
The anticipation is mounting for the formal dedication of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. However, the memorial is open TODAY (8/22)! This is truly a historic and major moment. Quite honestly, to have the first Black President elected in my lifetime, AND NOW the first national monument honoring an African-American can bring tears to my eyes…seriously. I am looking forward to the celebrations and dedication on Sunday (8/28). And you know ThatKellieGirl is going to be there!
Hello Good People!
I know today is Friday the 13th, but I am not too superstitious. And I haven’t met a Friday I haven’t liked. So make sure to enjoy this weekend—food and wine festivals are kicking off and Passport DC’s Embassy tours are on Saturday. Enjoy! Peace and Blessings.
Monday mornings can be funky. You are coming off of that weekend-high, and about to run into “who- knows-what” for the week. So when I came across thirteen tracks (lovingly selected by the editor of Echoes magazine) to take you on a personal journey through the genius compositions of Steveland Morris, I thought it was my duty to share. :-)
