ThatKellieGirl loves the kids! Camp picture from last year.

Hey Good Folks.  TGIM!

ThatKellieGirl loves the kids!  This weekend was the kick-off for the East of the River Career Exposure Camp.  Each summer, I become a camp administrator to expose students to professions in the math and sciences.  We are exposing the students to architecture through drafting, building models and a field trip to an African-American architecture firm.  For our first day, we had a great time with activities and a BBQ.  And when I came home, I fell out! LOL  What am I going to do when I have my own children?  *smh*  This week, the camp will be in full swing for three days and I am really excited about it.  And if you know if any students interested in science and math, please send an email to  Stay tuned!

On Friday, ThatKellieGirl was on 89.3 FM WPFW’s Soul Conversations giving you the scoop on new music and events in the DMV.  I wanted to make sure that each artist I mentioned was posted on my blog. So check out some great music below.

Music Monday

Hello Good Folks!

I hope your week is starting off well. :-)

Last Friday, I was so excited to have a segment on 89.3FM, WPFW’s Soul Conversations talking about new music and musical happenings in the DMV.  If you catched it, you heard me mention a jazz artist by the name of  Cécile McLorin Salvant.  I simply love her voice…very rich and full.    When you hear her sing, you know she has a story to tell.  She performed at the Kennedy Center Jazz Club last Friday.  Read the rest of this entry

Freedom Friday: The Four Leaf Clover Edition

Happy Friday Everyone!

The only thing Irish about ThatKellieGirl is my name.  And I sure don’t believe in leprechauns.   However, I do believe in some good music.

So in honor of St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow, enjoy this throwback from Atlantic Starr “Touch a Four Leaf Clover”.

And check out some great happenings below. :-)

Peace and Blessings, ThatKellieGirl

Music Monday

Hey Folks!

I hope you are ready for the week.  If not, I have a couple of things that might help you out. :-)

First up, Deborah Bond’s newest album Madam Palindrome is out.  If anyone knows Deborah Bond, you know that she puts her heart and soul into making GOOD music.  Her fun-loving, good-natured energy is just infectious.  The honey and I stopped through WPFW and Ms. Bond was prepping  for her interview on Soul Conversations with the wonderful Kimberly Washington.   She was bursting with so much pride as we previewed the artwork for her album and gave us a sneak peek of her video for “You are the One”.    I won’t give it away, but it is fun, fresh and very creative!  It will be on some heavy rotation on VH1 Soul! :-)  Go get Madam Palindrome here.
