ThatKellieGirl was on the scene for the Black President’s Day on Thursday. This is one of my favorite annual events. Produced by Risikat “Kat” Okedeyi, founder of Lil SoSo Production, Black President’s Day serves as the official DC tribute to Afrobeat creator Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
This year as part of the festivities, in honor of the wives that held Fela down, there was an inaugural Queens’ Stroll where painted ladies strolled from 12th and U Streets on down to the main event. You know ThatKellieGirl was in the mix, and several woman came together to show their sisterly love and African pride. During the stroll, we were invited into Ben’s Chili Bowl and took pictures with the staff! And as soon as we stepped into the building, the celebration officially began.
Everyone was in high spirits. DJs Jahsonic, Stylus and Adrian Loving kept everyone sweating on the dance floor (see my sweaty pictures)! And artist Aniekan Udofia was back on the scene live painting a beautiful piece.
Much love and congratulations to the Lil SoSo Productions family for a successful event.

great make up! need to go “africa vogue” shopping with you!
You know I am game!
I truly love adorning myself with the make-up and afrocentric clothing. It makes you look at beauty in a totally different way. It was a beautiful and fun night.
